Heavy-duty sewing machines are used for decorative stitching to create beautiful, intricate patterns.

Nowadays, many decorative seams utilize thick thread for stitching, creating beautiful patterns and stitches. This technique is particularly common in the decorative sewing of sofa covers, chair covers, tablecloths, and similar items, all of which require a thick-thread sewing machine to achieve.
The decorative stitching effect of heavy-duty sewing machines is excellent, producing smooth and attractive results. This technique is widely adopted by many sofa manufacturers for decorative stitching.
Decorative threads using heavy-duty thread include round thread and flat/hollow thread, used as visible topstitching. The thickness of the thread knot is equivalent to the combined thickness of two top threads plus two bottom threads. Genuine leather typically has a thickness of 2.5mm or more. The areas where visible stitching is applied on sofa covers are usually composed of two or more layers. If the thick thread is 1mm or 1.2mm in diameter, the knot thickness ranges from 2mm to 2.4mm. With two layers of sofa leather exceeding 5mm in thickness, and genuine leather possessing strong resilience, the knots are easily concealed within the leather layers. This prevents floating threads (where the bottom thread is visible on top) or thread loops (where the top thread or even large thread loops are visible).
Heavy-duty sewing machines are the primary equipment used for decorative stitching in modern high-end sofa manufacturing. They are also suitable for sewing less thick leather goods.
